You can win one of 5 full scholarships to University of Phoenix (either on campus or online) for those who graduated high school (or getting their GED) in 2007 or later. This could be an excellent opportunity for those overlooked by more traditional scholarships, so please forward to all interested parties

University of Phoenix is pleased to partner with Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation (TASF) to offer scholarship opportunities to young men and women. The TASF began in 1979 to serve as a vehicle to provide annual scholarships to outstanding young people in their quest of excellence. Five (5) full-tuition scholarships will be awarded on September 1, 2009. These scholarships are directed toward recent high school graduates (2007 or later) and can be used
toward a bachelor’s degree program of choice. Recipients may choose to attend a University of Phoenix on- ground campus or may attend University of Phoenix online.

Candidates for the scholarship must demonstrate the following to be considered:
1. Applicants who reside in the United States must meet one of the following requirements: be a legal resident of the United States; have been granted permanent residency; have a valid visa that does not prohibit educational studies; have been granted temporary protected status along with approved Notice of Action issued by Citizen Immigration Services and verified through CIS Form g-845; or have been granted asylum along with the approved Notice of Action issued by the Citizen Immigration Services.

2. Applicant must not be currently receiving or will be receiving once enrolled 100% tuition reimbursement from any source(s).

3. Student Status:
a. Recent high school graduate (2007 or later);
b. High school diploma or High school equivalent/GED; and
c. Applicant must not be currently enrolled nor in the process of enrolling at any
University of Phoenix campus or in any online program at any time prior to the
scholarship award date. Applicants who enroll after submitting an application or
before the scholarship award date are not eligible to be a recipient of this

4. Are not employees or family members of employees of Apollo Group, Inc., University of Phoenix, Western International University, Institute for Professional Development or any other subsidiary of Apollo Group, Inc.

5. Submit a complete, signed application, together with all supporting documentation by the deadline date listed under the Selection Process section. The completion of the application form does not create an obligation to award a scholarship to an applicant.

6. Submit a letter of recommendation from a Community Leader.

7. Submit a complete essay. High importance will be placed on the applicant’s desire to advance in their education, with an emphasis on furthering their careers, their impact in the community in which they reside, and why the TASF scholarship is important them. To be considered, the questionnaire or essay must meet the following requirements:
a. Essay should be typed, answered in complete sentences and in paragraph format,
b. Double spaced,
c. 1-inch margins,
d. 12 point font, 8 x 11 paper (non-notebook paper), and
e. Pages must be paper-clipped together (no staples).
8. Only five (5) full tuition scholarships will be awarded annually.

1. The recipient of this scholarship will be selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee consisting of representatives from Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation and University of Phoenix.

2. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit a complete and signed application with all the supporting documentation in one package which must be post marked on or before the deadline date as set forth below. The Scholarship Selection Committee accepts no responsibility for incomplete applications, applications not in proper form, lost applications, or any other submission in exception to the above instructions.

3. Scholarship selection shall be made without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.

4. The scholarship award will be based on the committee’s scores of the overall quality of the application and the scholarship essay(s). The higher the score, the higher the probability of selection.
Deadline Date:
A complete application and supporting documentation must be post marked on or before July 31, 2009. Applications post marked after the designated deadline date will not be considered. No exceptions.
Award Date:
The Scholarship Selection Committee will determine the recipients of the scholarship by the award date of September 1, 2009. Applicants will receive a notification email regardless of whether or not they were selected as a recipient.
